Job role: RMS Technician – Wiltshire

Key responsibilities:

Genus ABS is the largest cattle breeding business in the world, part of the world-leading animal genetics company. Operating wholly owned-bovine businesses in 20 countries, with further representation in around 60 other countries. Through Genus’ extensive research and development programmes, cutting-edge technology allows us to help farmers to produce high quality meat and milk more efficiently and sustainably.Genus has more than 250 world-leading beef and dairy animals of main commercial breeds in production in bovine studs in the UK, US, Canada, Brazil, Italy, Australia and India. Approximately 17 million doses of semen are collected from these studs each year. The semen is frozen in tanks containing liquid nitrogen so that is can be kept indefinitely and can be transferred and sold throughout the world. We are unique amongst our competitors in that we operate a global insemination service and that’s where you come in…

In your role as an RMS Technician, you will

  • Visit herds daily, heat detecting cows and analysing herd records before artificially inseminating the appropriate animals
  • Develop close working relationships with your colleagues and the individuals on the farms you service
  • Assist in solving problems that may arise relating to the herd’s fertility, using data from results you input into the computer system
  • Proactively respond to customer enquiries

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual who has persistence is systematic, precise and have an innate need to get things right. Ideally, you should have the ability to adhere to procedures and detail whilst maintaining quality and ensuring standards are met.

Your work will be largely independent and on a full-time rota basis. To be successful in your role, you should be organised and flexible in your approach to work and working patterns.

 

Candidate requirements:

To be successful in your application for the role, you should

  • Hold a full UK driving licence
  • Have practical livestock experience and interest in working with animals
  • Be pragmatic, approachable and adaptable in your approach to work
