| The Meuse Rhine Issel (MRI) breed originates in the Netherlands and Germany.
The first MRI cattle were imported into the UK in the early 1970's. MRI milk is high quality, with protein production approaching 4% and fat production over 4%. There is also a high instance of the Kappa Casein 'B' gene, which is advantageous for cheese makers. Cows have good disease resistance and have impressive legs and feet. Calves have good feed conversion and beef quality and can be reared and sold for slaughter. |
