The Jersey is possibly the oldest of the present-day breeds of dairy cattle. The breed originated on the island of Jersey and is now the second most popular breed world-wide.
Many factors contribute to the breeds popularity. The breed adapts well to all climates, it matures early and animals live long productive lives.
Jerseys are the smallest of the dairy breeds, but despite its size it is renowned for its ease of calving, allowing it to be crossed with the larger beef breeds.
