Brown Swiss

The Brown Swiss breed was developed in Switzerland during the 1800's.

The Brown Swiss is a medium sized animal with a greyish-brown coat. The chest is deep with well-sprung ribs and well developed hindquarters. Due to this fleshing the Brown Swiss have a high carcass value when culled.

Cows have well-attached udders with excellent teat placement and good legs and feet making for long life cows.

The Brown Swiss produces protein rich milk and has a high resistance to mastitis, making it ideal for cheese makers.

The breed is also able to survive in many different environments and has good feed conversion rates, making it ideal for less intensive systems.
