Dexter

The Dexter breed is a dual-purpose breed originating from Kerry. It is the smallest British breed
standing just 92 cm - 107 cm at the shoulder. The short legs and deep body give the breed a
dwarfish appearance. The majority of the breed is black in colour, but red and dun variations also exist.

Dexter cows are extremely maternal and because of their dual purpose qualities, they will milk well.
Dexter's are noted for their longevity and often breed regularly for 14 years or more.

The breed is early maturing. Beef of excellent quality and flavour, with good marbling, can be
produced economically.
