The Simmental breed can be traced back to Switzerland. From there the breed has spread all over the Europe.
The Simmental is bred as a dual-purpose beef and dairy breed. In crossbreeding the Simmental provides excellent growth rates, a large frame and therefore a high beef yield. Meat quality is also high with white fat and extensive marbling. Simmental have a high milk yield, high fertility, good mothering ability and a docile nature making for excellent suckler replacements.
