Our beef specialists search herds throughout the UK and mainland Europe for the very best beef bulls in their breed population, initially using EBV's, pedigree information and physical attributes. Then each and every beef bull that we select for our stud undergoes a routine of vigorous health and fertility testing. Only if they pass with flying colours will they enter the next phase of the Genus Calving survey.
All our beef sires are put through our calving survey, the UK's most reliable, and their performance is assessed over thousands of dairy cows in the UK for:-
Calving Ease, Calf Quality, Gestation Length & Beef Sire Index (BSI).

We do this to ensure that only the easiest calving bulls with the best conformation calves are available to you.
In fact only 3% of the bulls we test make the grade of elite sire. A huge 88% of beef bulls sources are rejected!
Our beef bull selection process and calving survey considerably reduces the risk of calving difficulties, and
maximises saleable calf prices for your business in the market place.

Only when we have data on at least 200 calvings
in 120 dairy herds will
our beef sire have the stamp of approval for
rock solid reliability.

Our beef sires go on
to achieve the sapphire stamp of approval when they sire over 50,000 progeny.

They only gain the ultimate accolade of diamond sire when they reach over 100,000 progeny in their proof, a true legend in the Genus Beef Stud.
