It is believed that the Sussex breed is descended from the red cattle that inhabited the Weald forest in 1066. The breed were originally used for draught purposes and work oxen.
The Sussex is now a beef breed that owes its firm muscling, good feet and strong legs to its working background. The Sussex breed is ideal for extensive easy and economical to produce, easy calving and have a good temperament.
