The Limousin breed takes its name from the province of Limousin in west-central France.
Limousin are medium to large framed cattle with a long body and exceptional rump. The breed also combines a fine skeleton with good muscle development and very little fat. Limousins are renowned for their early-maturing, quality carcass. Limousins are ideal for commercial beef breeders due to their efficient live weight gain and for dairy producers who are looking to produce quality calves.
